چکیده

SUMMARY Quantitative analyses were made of carcinoembryonic antigen using radioimmunoassay and of carboxylesterase using chemical and immunochemical methods in normal and malignant human digestive tract tissues. Metastatic and primary carcinomatous tissue extracts with high carcinoembry onic antigen activities had increased esterase activities com pared with normal colon, liver, and pancreas. A significant correlation between carcinoembryonic antigen content and carboxylesterase activities in the individual tissues was demonstrated.

Study of Correlation between Prostate Specific Antigen and Matrix Metalloproteinase-2 Activity in Benign and Malignant Prostate Hyperplasia

There are emerging data on novel tumor markers such as matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2 or gelatinase-A), which play a key role in tissue invasion and metastasis. We designed an investigation to assess the usefulness of MMP-2 activity as compared to prostate specific antigen (PSA) in cancer staging process. We have analyzed the circulating form of MMP-2 in serum samples of patients suffering f...

Evaluation of c-Myc mRNA Expression Level in Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia and Prostatic Adenocarcinoma Tissues and Its Correlation with Clinicopathological Characteristics

Background and Aims: Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the most common cancers among men in Iran. Since changes in the regulation of proto-oncogenes expression are the main causes of most human cancers, including PCa, evaluating the expression of marker genes can be helpful for early diagnosis of cancer and better understanding of its etiology. The present study compared c-Myc expression level in...

Absence of Human Papillomavirus in Benign and Malignant Breast Tissue

Background & Objective: Malignant breast tumors, which are one of the most important deadly cancers in women, like many other cancers, are proposed to be related to viruses etiologically. Proper management of breast carcinoma necessitates an identification of the etiological factors. Human Papillomavirus is considered to have an etiological role in breast carcinoma. We...

Correlation between estrogen receptor protein and carcinoembryonic antigen in normal and carcinomatous human breast tissue.

We determined estrogen receptor protein and carcinoembryonic antigen in cytosols prepared from 189 human breast carcinoma tissues, 85 benign or normal breast biopsies, and 101 tissue specimens metastatic from breast carcinoma. Carcinoembryonic antigen was observed in 70% of the primary carcinomatous tissues, 15% of the benign or normal specimens, and 51% of the metastases. Ninety-six of the 189...

مطالعه بیان ژن آنتی ژن اختصاصی پروستات و آنزیم تلومراز و ارتباط آنها با گیرنده های استروئیدی در بیماران مبتلا به سرطان پستان

Introduction & Objective: Breast cancer is the most common disease in women. In the expansion and progression of breast tumors combination of tumor markers including prostate specific antigen (PSA) and telomerase are engaged. The aim of this study was to evaluate relationship between telomerase activity and prostate specific antigen gene expression with steroid hormone receptors in breast can...
